This past Wednesday I had the honor of being recognized by BizWest at their annual Women of Distinction event. It was a sold-out event and it was quite humbling to receive the award in the healthcare category.
I think two things make this honor extra sweet:
- It’s a victory for small businesses! Traditionally, this award has gone to healthcare workers at many of the large facilities across Northern Colorado – UC Health, Banner, Columbine, etc. It felt amazing to accept this award on behalf of all of the solo practitioners and small clinics working to make a big impact in their communities.
- It’s a victory for chiropractic! In the healthcare realm, there are generally two points of view. There’s pathogenesis, which studies what makes people sick and causes disease. And then there’s salutogenesis, which studies what makes people healthy and causes them to thrive. I couldn’t be more proud to operate on the positive side of that equation and help restore hope and healing for the people who walk through our doors.
If you’re interested, here’s the article that BizWest published (link). I’m not great at accepting the attention that comes along with an award such as this. I also know, after meeting the other incredible honorees in this year’s class, that none of us do the work we do for the recognition; we do it because we love it, we’re passionate about it, and because it’s important work to be doing.
Onward & upward!
Yours in good health,
Dr. Jane
