I did it! After 3.5 years, 300+ hours of classroom instruction, a research presentation, and many examinations, I am now Jane Brewer DC, DCCJP!
DC stands for Doctor of Chiropractic. This degree, which I completed in 2014, allows me to practice in my office as a Chiropractor. This post-graduate degree can only be obtained after receiving a bachelor’s degree. Every Chiropractor must hold a DC degree to be eligible for licensure to practice.
DCCJP is short for Diplomate in Chiropractic Craniocervical Junction Procedures. Craniocervical is the technical term for head and neck. This Diplomate degree is only available to those that are already certified in an Upper Cervical technique. This is a three-year program that covers over 300 hours of instruction on anatomy, biomechanics, neurology, diagnostics, correction, and imaging of the upper cervical spine. This designation is backed by the International Chiropractic Association. I am honored to now be among the ranks of less than 60 chiropractors in the world with the DCCJP credential.
I pursued the DCCJP because of my passion for this work. Over the past 3.5 years, I have acquired knowledge and skills that I have incorporated into the day-to-day care of my patients. I am also finishing this experience with friendships with incredibly bright colleagues who have provided continuous encouragement along the way.
This area of the spine is vital. It is the keystone of the spine and central nervous system and it requires expertise and knowledge for it to be taken care of properly. I am honored to be YOUR chiropractor.
