One of the best parts about NeuroStructural Chiropractic care is coming to the understanding that our bodies are self-healing, self-regulating, and self-maintaining. If you were in last week, it was impossible not to notice that I injured my neck in a silly but unfortunate fall while hiking. On Monday, I could barely turn my head out of a neutral position. It was terrible!
I knew what I needed to do to take care of myself – all of the same things I would recommend to any of you. I had my spine checked by my chiropractor 3 times last week, became more disciplined in my supplement routine, applied ice and heat, stayed hydrated, made sure to get enough rest, and gently moved my neck as much as I could. Here we are about a week later, and I am 90% better!
Sometimes it’s easy to forget how amazing and resilient our bodies are when you’re in pain and when it isn’t behaving as it should. BUT, that doesn’t mean that this simple, fundamental truth has failed us. Our bodies are always working for us and striving to heal.
The secret sauce: TIME.
This coming week as Amber and I head out for some R&R, remember that your body is conspiring in your favor. Nourish it as such.
You’ll find this week’s hours and next in today’s email since we’ll have limited e-mail access while we’re gone. Hold strong and we’ll see you soon!
Yours in good health,
Dr. Jane
